For Chiang Mai, we booked our stay once again through AirBnB. Just a few minutes from the Arcade Bus Station and we were there. Luckily, our host was amazing and picked us up from the station, and also dropped us back when we left!! Good sized place located a couple miles from the Old City.
Our studio was spacious and furnished with a small couch, table for two, and a queen bed. There was also a Kitchenette, refrigerator, microwave and a water boiler for coffee/noodles. The bathroom was a bit small and muggy. Unfortunately, there was no AC in our unit, only a ceiling fan which made it hard to sleep some nights because of the heat. During the day, we were able to leave the front and back door open for more air flow, but for sleeping, we had to shut the front door because there was no lock on the metal screen door. WIFI was not included, but the building offered different daily/weekly packages for purchase, although the available internet was slow.
We paid $12 per night. We also paid about $3 (100 Baht) for unlimited internet for 7 days, which could only be used for one device (iPad, laptop, iPhone). Price per night was low, but remember there was no AC/WIFI included.
Our place was just a few minutes south of the Arcade bus station. About a mile and a half west was Tha Phae Gate, which is the main entry point to the Old City Square where every Sunday night there is a massive Night Market walking street full of food, desserts and things to buy. The airport was about three miles east of us on the other side of the Old City Square, very easy and cheap to get to via Taxi, Tuk Tuk or Songthaew (Red Trucks). We walked everywhere except the airport. During our stay, we walked to the City Square several times. It is a decent walk, just not as fun when the sun is beaming down on you too much. Additionally, there were a few cafes with WIFI within a block of us, which we frequented when we needed a change of scenery from the hot box. Our unit was in one of three big buildings on the property. Very quiet place.
